Bella Baron believes Lowell softball has the pieces to remain competitive in one of Northwest Indiana’s toughest conferences, even after losing key contributors from last season.
“We still have a lot of returning players,” Baron said. “We’re going to be just as good, and we have a lot of good upcoming players.”
Baron said the Red Devils expect strong contributions from younger teammates stepping into larger roles, particularly as the team adjusts to life without its former standout pitcher.
“I feel like defensively things are going to be pretty much the same,” she said. “We have a lot of talent coming up, especially with the freshmen.”
As one of the team’s upperclass leaders, Baron emphasized building connections across grade levels to strengthen team chemistry.
“When I was a freshman, I was scared to talk to any upperclassmen,” she said. “Just talking to them or throwing with them helps them open up.”
Baron also credited Lowell’s upgraded softball complex as a major factor in the team’s confidence and preparation.
“It’s a blessing to step on that field after school,” she said. “Even if it’s raining, we can still be outside, and it gets us into a game mindset.”
With experience, depth and improved facilities, Baron believes the Red Devils can achieve significant success this season.
