Senior RHP Zak Scharnke struck out ten and threw a complete game shut-out of Portage, winning 4-0.
The game took place on Thursday April 30, at Portage High School.
Scharnke held the Indians to four hits; he walked just one.
Lowell broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when first-baseman Mason Umfleet drove in a run with a single.
Then, in the fifth, senior center-fielder Gavin Gutierrez hit a bases-clearing triple to extend the Red Devils’ lead to 4-0.
Gutierrez (2-3), Scharnke (2-3) and senior catcher Camden Mikulich (2-3) each had multi-hit games for Lowell.
Mikulich is a Wabash commit.
Senior Portage pitcher Kodie Young had a complete game himself, giving up eight hits and striking out ten in the loss.
Neither team committed an error.
