Lowell Girls Basketball saw its season end with a 43-40 loss to Kankakee Valley in postseason play.
The game was played Feb. 6 in a neutral-site playoff matchup.
Lowell led 24-8 after the first quarter and carried a 24-24 tie into halftime after Kankakee Valley’s 16-point second quarter. The Red Devils regained momentum in the third, outscoring the Kougars 9-4 to take a 33-28 lead into the fourth. Kankakee Valley closed with a 15-point final quarter to complete the comeback and edge Lowell by three.
Brooke Dawson led Lowell with 14 points, hitting six field goals and going 2-of-3 at the free-throw line. Gatlin Hanrath added 12 points and 14 rebounds, providing a strong interior presence. Josephine Laub scored eight points and knocked down two 3-pointers, while Aubrey Fleming finished with four points and Hayden Blocker added two. Lowell shot 15-of-41 from the field and went 8-of-11 from the line.
Lowell totaled 24 rebounds, 10 steals and five blocks, but was limited by 24 turnovers in the tightly contested game.
The loss marked the final game of the 2025-26 season for Lowell. The Red Devils closed the year with a hard-fought postseason performance and a strong foundation to build on moving forward.
