Lowell High School responded to a season-opening defeat with a dominant performance Friday, defeating La Porte 34–6 to even its record at 1–1. The Red Devils quickly erased the memory of their 38–7 loss to Crown Point, showing renewed energy and execution on both sides of the ball.
The offense set the pace early, producing multiple scoring drives that balanced the passing and rushing attack. Running lanes opened consistently behind a strong offensive line, and the aerial game stretched La Porte’s secondary to create chunk plays. The combination allowed Lowell to build a double-digit lead and control tempo throughout the night.
Defensively, the Red Devils swarmed to the ball and prevented La Porte from establishing rhythm. Effective tackling and containment shut down explosive plays, while turnovers flipped momentum firmly in Lowell’s favor. The Red Devils held La Porte to just one score, underlining their defensive improvement from the opener.
Now 1–1, Lowell enters its conference slate with confidence and momentum. A tough schedule looms, but Friday’s performance suggested the Red Devils are poised to contend as the season progresses.
