The Lowell High School varsity boys soccer team earned its first win of the season Wednesday, defeating Wheeler 5–2 in a confident road performance. After a 1–1 first half, the Red Devils surged in the second, scoring four unanswered goals to take control of the match.
Sophomore Noah Hebble gave Lowell the spark it needed, scoring twice on quick finishes inside the box. Senior Cass Hejnowski put the game away with a remarkable hat-trick, showcasing his ability to create chances and finish with precision. Together, the duo highlighted a balanced and dangerous Red Devil attack.
Lowell’s midfield controlled possession after halftime, keeping Wheeler pinned in its own end. The defense provided strong coverage to limit breakaways, while goalkeeper stops ensured the lead held steady even as Wheeler fought back late.
The result evened Lowell’s record at 1–1 and demonstrated the team’s ability to adjust at halftime and finish with confidence. It was a promising sign for a squad still building its identity early in the season.
