Lowell’s boys wrestling team delivered a championship-level performance at the Northwest Crossroads Conference Championships, crowned by seven individual titles and multiple finalists to lead the Red Devils to the top of the team standings.
The conference tournament was held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Lowell High School, featuring teams from across the Northwest Crossroads Conference competing for individual titles and team points.
Lowell produced seven conference champions, led by Dashaun Thomas at 120 pounds, Noel Verduzco at 126, Hunter Mallory at 132, Evan Stanley at 138, Dalton Robson at 144, Bradley Rivera at 165, Cayden Yuran at 190, and Kameron Hazelett at 285. Each secured first-place finishes to anchor the Red Devils’ scoring effort.
Gavin Longoria and Tyler Quarles each placed second at 106 and 113, respectively, while Tymothy James earned a runner-up finish at 175. Logan Schwarzkopf (150), Charles Shaffer (157), and Anthony Ruiz (215) added third-place finishes to round out the podium performances.
The combined effort totaled 293.5 team points, showcasing Lowell’s depth across all weight classes and separating the Red Devils from the rest of the field in the overall standings.
Up next, Lowell will compete in the IHSAA Sectional on Jan. 31 at Crown Point High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
