The Lowell Red Devils opened their 2025 season Friday night with a 38–7 loss to Crown Point in a road matchup that tested the team against one of the area’s perennial powers.
Crown Point struck early, building momentum behind an efficient passing attack and a sturdy defensive front that limited Lowell’s ground game. By halftime, the Bulldogs had created enough separation to control the contest, forcing the Red Devils to play from behind.
Lowell’s lone score came in the second half on a sustained drive that highlighted the team’s resilience despite the deficit. The Red Devils showed flashes of physicality at the line of scrimmage and moments of strong tackling, but turnovers and missed opportunities kept the game tilted toward Crown Point.
Players and coaches emphasized afterward that the opener provided valuable experience for a roster still finding its rhythm. With the first test behind them, the Red Devils will turn their attention to the upcoming home game against La Porte on September 5. The focus will be on translating lessons learned into improved execution as Lowell looks to bounce back in front of its home crowd.
