Lowell defeated Rensselaer Central 63-43 in a non-conference matchup behind a strong second-half performance.
The game was played Feb. 24 at Lowell High School, where the Red Devils pulled away after a close first half.
Lowell held a narrow 24-23 lead at halftime before taking control in the third quarter. The Red Devils outscored Rensselaer Central 23-7 in the period to build separation heading into the final quarter. Lowell continued to extend the lead in the fourth, finishing the night with a balanced offensive effort.
Junior Ezra Rumisek led Lowell with 28 points, converting 13 field goals and adding 11 rebounds to record a double-double. Aiden Hernandez contributed nine points, while B. Spearson and Lucas Brady each added six points. Roan Vasko finished with six points, and Cass Hejnowski scored four as Lowell spread scoring throughout the lineup.
Lowell shot 26-of-56 from the field and controlled the glass with a 35-18 rebounding advantage. The Red Devils also generated 15 steals defensively while forcing turnovers throughout the contest.
Lowell improved its momentum heading deeper into the schedule while Rensselaer Central dropped to 14-7 on the season following the loss.
