The Lowell Red Devils varsity football team defeated the Cardinals 35-0 in the Indiana High School Association’s Football State Tournament, presented by the Indianapolis Colts. The sectional semifinal game took place on October 31 at East Chicago Central High School.
According to reports, Lowell continued its dominant season by defeating East Chicago Central in this non-conference clash. This victory marked the Red Devils’ seventh win this year by a margin of 28 points or more.
Brody Kalwinski led the team with 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries, while also contributing 95 passing yards and a touchdown on six passes. His performance was highlighted by a 75-yard run that energized the Lowell offense.
The victory improved Lowell’s record to 9‑2 and extended their road winning streak to five games, during which they have averaged 37.6 points per contest. Meanwhile, East Chicago Central’s record fell to 4‑7 with this loss.
Looking ahead, the Red Devils will face the Hobart Brickies for another playoff round on November 7. Lowell enters this match with a strong record of 9-2. The Brickies are known for their stout defense, having allowed only an average of 12.4 points per game, presenting a challenging test for the Red Devils’ high-powered offense.
In their last encounter, Lowell emerged victorious with a score of 20-17.
