Lowell senior Josh Hejnowski embraces leadership role this season

0Comments

Lowell senior Josh Hejnowski is poised to lead a restructured Red Devils basketball team following the graduation of six seniors who contributed significantly to last year’s performance.

Hejnowski joins a lineup undergoing a transformation from an experienced, offense-focused group to a younger team striving for a stronger defensive presence. After concluding a successful fall soccer season, he transitioned back into basketball, balancing late-night shooting sessions, weight-room workouts, and building chemistry with returning teammates. As one of Lowell’s most dedicated multi-sport athletes, Hejnowski is now instrumental in setting standards and guiding younger players through varsity expectations.

According to Hejnowski, the focus this year is on developing a tougher defensive identity: pressuring opposing guards, contesting possessions, and forcing opponents into difficult shots. With the Northwest Crossroads Conference (NCC) expected to be highly competitive again, he believes Lowell’s disciplined and intense defense will keep the Red Devils competitive and create scoring opportunities through effort.

Lowell aims to maintain momentum within the program and will rely heavily on Hejnowski’s experience, competitiveness, and commitment as they continue learning how to win together.

The Red Devils are set to host Griffith on Thursday, December 5th at 7 p.m.
