Lowell delivered a championship-level performance at the IHSWCA Class 3A Team State Duals, finishing third overall after a deep run through a highly competitive bracket.
The tournament was held Jan. 10 at Franklin Community High School in Franklin, Indiana.
The Red Devils opened with a first-round bye before knocking off defending dual state champion Roncalli 40–32 in the quarterfinals. Key wins in that dual included a major decision by Noel Verduzco at 126 pounds, a victory from Logan Schwarzkopf at 144, and a decisive pin by Evan Stanley that helped seal the upset and send Lowell to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Lowell battled top-seeded Franklin Community in a tightly contested dual that remained close throughout, with the host Grizzly Cubs eventually pulling away late. The Red Devils responded in the third-place match with a 48–26 win over No. 2 Columbus East to secure a spot on the podium.
Several wrestlers turned in clutch performances across the day, including Hunter Mallory, Evan Stanley, Noel Verduzco and Kameron Hazlett, who each went 3–0 in dual competition, while Logan Schwarzkopf posted a 2–0 record.
Up next, Lowell will compete at the IHSAA Sectional on Friday, Jan. 31, beginning at 8 a.m. at Crown Point High School.
