Red Devils Boys Cross Country Kick Off Under New Leadership

0Comments

A new season brings fresh energy to Lowell High School’s boys cross country team, now led by head coach Brian Smith, a former Wake Forest runner who took over last spring. With experience and enthusiasm, Smith steps into the role with a focus on building both endurance and team culture.

Summer training has centered on long runs, hill repeats and simulated races to prepare for competitive conditions. A core group of returning runners brings valuable varsity experience, while underclassmen are pushing the pace in workouts to narrow the team’s overall gap.

The 2025 season opens with several early invitationals that will test lineup consistency before the conference schedule begins. Smith will emphasize pack running, strategic pacing and strong finishes in each race.

With a mix of veteran leadership and fresh talent, the Red Devils aim to move from competing to contending in the postseason, looking to qualify as a team out of the sectional meet.
