Red Devils eliminated after low scoring sectional final against Hanover Central

0Comments

Lowell’s season ended in the Class 3A Sectional 18 championship with an 18–13 loss to Hanover Central.

The game took place on March 7 at Hanover Central High School.

The Red Devils forced nine steals and kept the Wildcats uncomfortable, but struggled to convert offensively, shooting just 25 percent from the field and 25 percent at the line. Hanover controlled the boards 19–12 and managed enough scoring to secure the sectional crown. The championship matchup turned into one of the lowest‑scoring games of the tournament, with the two teams combining for just 31 total points. Lowell’s defensive grit kept the game close throughout, but the lack of offensive rhythm proved decisive in one of the most grinding sectional finals in recent Indiana history.

That defensive identity defined Lowell’s 2025–26 campaign. The Red Devils leaned on pressure and resilience to reach the sectional final, consistently forcing turnovers and slowing opponents into half‑court battles. Offensive inconsistency limited their ceiling, but the team’s ability to compete in tight, low‑possession games carried them deep into March. Despite elimination, Lowell exits with valuable tournament experience and a defensive foundation to build on, positioning the Red Devils for a stronger return next season.
