The Lowell Red Devils battled through four quarters but were unable to overcome the Chesterton Trojans, falling 52–41.
The matchup was played Jan. 17 at Lowell High School.
Lowell put together an efficient offensive showing despite being bested by Chesterton. The team shot 56 percent from the field and hit 57 percent from beyond the arc, with six players contributing to the scoring column. Sophomore Aiden Hernandez and senior Cass Hejnovski each scored eight points, combining to go 6-for-7 from the floor. Roan Vasko led the team with 10 points, including a three-pointer and three free throws.
Lucas Brady and Ezra Rumisek added five and eight points, respectively, while Brayden Spearson chipped in two. Lowell went 9-for-14 from the line and hit four of seven three-point attempts. The team also converted 10 of 18 two-point shots for a 56 percent clip. Despite the loss, Lowell’s shooting efficiency and balanced scoring were bright spots.
Up next, Lowell hosts Kouts in a boys varsity non‑conference matchup Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.
The teams last met Feb. 22, 2025, when Kouts beat Lowell 74-59 in a home non‑conference game.
